Ahmadiyya head calls on Muslims to support polio immunisation

Accra, March 1, GNA - The Ameer and Missionary in-charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Ghana Mauvi A. Wahab Adam has urged all Muslims to support the National Polio Immunisation exercise.

A statement issued in Accra and signed by Mr Ahmad Twumasi, Public Relations Officer of the Mission said, the Ameer was speaking at a sermon at the weekend at Abura near Cape Coast in the Central Region. He said, " safeguarding the health of the present and future generations of Ghanaians is, therefore, not only a civic responsibility but also moral and spiritual duty of Muslims."

The Ameer quoted the Holy Quran to buttressed his point that the giving of life to one person amounts to giving of life to the whole of mankind.

He advised Muslim parents to cooperate fully with health officials who would visit their towns and villages for the exercise since its primary objective was to ensure sound health for children up to five years.
