Ahafo-Ano South District Assembly dissolved

Mankranso (Ash), Sept. 8, GNA -- Mr Kwaku Obeng Boateng, District Chief Executive for Ahafo-Ano South, has commended outgoing assembly members for their co-operation and commitment, which had led to the remarkable developments in the areas of health, education, agriculture and security among others.

The DCE, who was addressing the last meeting to dissolve the assembly at Mankranso, commended the outgoing assembly members for their resilience and firmness, which enabled them to withstand vitriolic and sometimes physical attacks by their people over the positioning of projects and the provision of social amenities.

'The position of assembly members is very challenging and hazardous though it attracts little rewards', he added and called on them not to shun the Assembly completely but endeavour to share their experiences with incoming members.

Highlighting on development projects undertaken during the first half of the year, Mr Boateng said 46 classroom blocks, a number of teachers, nurses and police quarters, 27 public toilets and a hostel as well as 80 boreholes were constructed at a total cost of over 16 billion cedis apart from the commencement and rehabilitation and of others. The projects were financed through the Assembly's share of the common fund.

Mr Boateng told the meeting also attended by Mr Stephen Balado Manu, Member of Parliament (MP) for the area that the Assembly realised 500 million cedis as internally generated funds in the first half of this year out of a yearly estimate of 961 million cedis, representing 52 per cent.

He, however, expressed regret that communities like Mankranso, Sabronum and Adugyama were unable to pay their counterpart funds for the ongoing Town Four projects totalling over four billion cedis.
