The Afigya Kwabre North District Chief Executive, Hon. Karikari Acheamfuor has presented various types of equipment and money to persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the Afigya Kwabre South District at a ceremony in Kodie, the district capital with a call on them desist from selling the items.

He advised the PWD's to rather make good use of the equipment to enable them to earn their daily bread. Mr. Karikari Acheamfuor who heads to Boamang as the first District Chief Executive for the newly-created Afigya Kwabre North pointed out that former President John Agyekum Kufuor initiated the disbursement policy to assist the needy and vulnerable in the society and Nana Addo's government has come to make it better.

For his part, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, said PWD's had misused their cash benefits in the past so President Nana Addo decided to give out the equipment as a long-term measure to alleviate poverty.

In response, the Afigya Kwabre South district chairman for the PWDs, John Asamoah, thanked the government, the DCE and the assembly for the presentation. He, therefore, tasked his members to make good use of the working tools they have received, to avoid being a burden to the society.

Equipment disbursed included deep-freezers, sewing-machines, wheel-chairs, hair-dryers and cash among others. One hundred and forty-three (143) PWD's benefitted from the distribution of equipment by the assembly.
