Adumasa Community appeals for rehabilitation of roads

The chiefs and people of Adumasa in the Suhum Municipality, have asked the Department of Feeder Roads to rehabilitate roads in the municipality, especially those in the remotest areas.

This would help make transportation less difficult and foodstuff in the area easier to procure to enhance business activities of the people.

Nana Ayisi Addo, Odikro of the cluster of Adumasa villages, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at a meeting at Adumasa near Suhum in the Eastern Region, that over the years, the assembly had not implemented any systematic programme of improving the infrastructure base of the area.

He said; “This suggests that the government has abandoned its rural development policy to ensure better living conditions of the people”.

Others at the meeting were Elder Addo Kwabena, Ankobeahene, Mr Erasmus Tetteh Batsa, Unit Committee Chairman and opinion leaders who, among other matters, discussed how best they could transport their goods to the urban areas for sale.

While commending the government for sustaining the peace being enjoyed by Ghanaians, they criticised the municipal assembly for doing nothing to reshape feeder roads in the Adumasa area, to help alleviate problems facing those poor farming communities.

They were also not happy that social amenities like schools, clinics, potable water, decent toilet facilities and electricity were lacking, hence making the people to live in abject poverty.

Adumasa comprised Besenkwanta, Akurakese and other communities with a population of about 550 people basically from Akwapim Mamfe and shares common boundary with Akim Anomabo on the west and Kumikrom on the east.
