Adomanuhene Pays School Fees For 267 Pupils

The textbook user fee and the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) levies for 267 pupils and students of the Adomanu Catholic Primary and the Local Authority Junior Secondary Schools for this academic year have been paid by the Adomanuhene and his sub-chiefs.

Nana Asirifi Asare II on behalf of the chiefs presented the fees totalling 2.140 million cedis to Mr Hafix Adams, Adansi West Deputy District Co-ordinating Director and Mr S.K. Okyere, the District Director of Education at a ceremony at Adomanu last Wednesday.

Nana Asirifi Asare said the chiefs were encouraged by the partnership between the District Assembly and the District Directorate of education to develop the infrastructure of schools in the area.

The Adomanuhene said the district assembly had started the construction of additional three-classroom block while the education directorate had supplied enough furniture for the school.

Nana Asare said 'galamsey' activities in the area were affecting education and said "the deteriorating performance of the pupils and students place a bigger challenge on us to help raise academic standards".

The Adomanuhene asked the community to be encouraged by what the chiefs had done to assist in improving the image of the school. He promised to pay the fees of all pupils and students next year should the parents continue to support and show interest in the education of their children and wards.

Mr Adams commended the initiative of the chiefs and appealed to the parents to see to send their children to school. He said the assembly is committed to the development of education that is why this year alone a total amount of 132 million cedis is being disbursed as scholarships to 237 students. He drew the attention of teachers to what the chiefs had done and advised them to help raise the standard of education in the area.

Mr Okyere appealed to the community to motivate the teachers at all times.
