Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, Member of Parliament for the Adentan, has challenged society to invest in the education of children of school going age as a matter of urgency and priority.

This, he said, is not only necessary to build on the potentials of the children to become responsible adults, but also to ensure a safe and resilient society.

Mr Ashie Moore made the remarks when he launched the 2015 edition of the ‘Adenta Community Back to School Project’ at a charity gospel musical concert at the Adenta Community Park.

The event was hosted by Lady Pastor Sweetielina Boateng-Antwi and featured prominent gospel artistes like Uncle Ato, KODA, Eugene Zuta, Cwesi Oteng, among others.

A statement issued by Christ Cares Ministries International, said the ‘Back to School Project’ was an initiative of Christ Cares Ministries International, and sought to support needy pupils in public schools within the Adentan Municipality.

The 2015 edition of the project targets to support 200 needy pupils in public schools in the target communities for one whole academic year; from September 2015 to June 2016.

“This represents a remarkable progress from 2014 where just about 30 pupils from the Adenta Community School were supported.

The project will also provide monthly mentorship series to pupils

from the public schools in Adentan over the next academic year,” the statement said.

Addressing the audience at the concert and launch, Mr Ashie Moore indicated that he was excited to be a part of the project since it was aligned with his personal initiative on education for
the constituency.

He advised that although quality education is the bedrock for development, a key issue in education is the question of universal access, stating that children’s access should not be affected by the ability of their parents to pay.

He added that children who are out of school become vulnerable to various forms of vices and crime and may end up taking their pound of flesh from the society when they grow.

He commended Christ Care Ministries for the initiative and pledged his commitment to the project and to take part in the mentorship series, to encourage the pupils to dare to achieve their dreams.

Lady Pastor Sweetielina Boateng-Antwi, the initiator of the Adenta Community Back to School project expressed her joy at the launch of the 2015 edition of the project, saying that the project team will leave no stone unturned in raising support for at least 200 pupils for one full academic year.

She called on corporate bodies to support the initiative as a part of their social investment strategies.
