Adaklu- Goefe gets new kindergarten

Madam Corinna Hoefinghoff, a German philanthropist on Tuesday handed over the keys to a three- unit kindergarten block valued at GH¢ 180,000, to the people of Adaklu Goefe in the Adaklu District.

The beautifully painted and tile floored classrooms with ceiling fans come with toys and teaching aid and a paved frontage.

The kindergarten block and the congenial and attractive environment it provides are expected to attract more children from Tsrefe, Gblefe, and nearby communities to flock to Goefe to begin their academic journey.

Each classroom would accommodate 35 children and ease the congestion which hitherto characterised kindergarten classes in the community.

Madam Hoefinghoff said children need such friendly infrastructure and environment to motivate them to go to school.

Since 2009 Madam Hoefinghoff’s non-governmental organisation, WirberWind Germany, had focused on improving educational infrastructure at Goefe.

Some of these are an orphanage, bore-holes, Teachers’ Common room and head-teachers office, furnished computer laboratory.

WirberWind Germany also renovated a three- unit junior high school block and donated school desks and sewing machine as well as a solar energy panel to provide 24 hour lighting for the school.

“The list is endless”, Mr Emmanuel Sky Ganaku, the District Chief Executive noted.

“I will therefore implore all parents to invest their little resources into the education of their children, that is the surest way we can guarantee a secured future for them,” he said.

“The District Assembly is in the process of re-engineering some basic schools for easy access at Waya New Town, Tsrefe, Alavanyo, Kpedzi and its environs and Agblefe.”

Togbe Senya IV, Chief of Tsrefe described the new kindergarten block as a model in the district.

He observed that the community has the best educational facilities therefore parents and their children do not have any excuse not to take advantage of those amenities.

Citations were presented to Madam Hoefinghoff and Mr Abalo Mayoutom who was instrumental in forging the relationship between Tsrefe and Madam Hiefinghoff’s NGO.
