Acting Konor calls for investment in Yilo Krobo

Somanya (E/R), April 22, GNA - The Acting President of the Yilo Krobo Traditional Area, Nene Tetteh Odonkor Tuumeh, has appealed to the government to invest in the Boti Falls to help raise the standard of facilities at the place to international standards.

This, he said, would turn the facility into a 93gold mine" for the Yilo Krobo District Assembly and the country as a whole.

Nene Tuumeh made the appeal at Somanya when the Eastern Regional Minister, Dr Kwasi Akyem Apea-Kubi, called on him as part of his tour of the area to inspect government development projects.

He called for the establishment of a cement factory to process the lime stone deposit in the area as well as the establishment of a mango factory to process the large volume of mangoes grown in the district to help reduce youth unemployment in the area. Nene Tuumeh called for the diversion of the road used by the heavy trucks which transport limestone from the area from the main towns to help reduce the number of motor accidents.

He appealed to the Regional Co-ordinating Council to prevail on GHACEM Cement Works, owner of the limestone mine to honour its social obligation to the chiefs and people in the area.

The Regional Minister gave the assurance that he would support the development of the Boti Falls and called on entrepreneurs to invest in the establishment of a mango processing plant at the Yilo Krobo area. The Minister inspected various projects that had been undertaken in the district within the last two years and appealed to contractors working on the projects to complete the works on schedule. 22 April 11
