Accra, July 13, GNA - Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), on

Monday, announced that there would be load shedding in parts of the Accra Metropolis on July 18 from 6.00 am to 6.00 pm. The exercise would enable contractors to complete works to terminate the new 330k V Aboadze- Tema transmission line into the main switchyard in Tema.

A statement issued by Mr Albert Kwesi Quainoo, Head of Public Relations in Accra said GRIDCo has subsequently requested the Electricity Company of Ghana to take out 80 Mega Watts of power supply to consumers in parts of the metropolis. It said list of affected communities would be advertised very soon. "The planned outage for Sunday is necessary to provide a safe work environment for a contractor to string the new Aboadze-Volta 330K V line across two of the Tema- Achimota 161K V lines into the main substation in Tema," the statement added. It said GRIDCo finds it very important to carry out the works to improve service delivery to its customers. "GRIDCo appreciates the support and co-operation of all consumers and apologises for the inconveniences these works will caused them," the statement said. 13 July 10
