Accra Friendship Club donates to orphanage

The Accra Friendship Club, a Keep Fit Club, has donated worth 15,000 Ghana cedis to the ‘Eye of the Lord’ orphanage at Nsawam Adoagyiri in the Akuapem South District.

The club also presented a cheque for GH¢5, 000.00 to the orphanage.

Among the items donated were soap, detergents, clothing, mattresses, blankets, fruits juice, bags of rice, maize and buckets.

The club also organized a party for the children and interacted with them.

Mr Paa Gyimah Gyenfi, the Ghairman of the club, said the outfit through its charity committee identified the needs of the orphanage and upon discussions with members, decided to respond to their needs.

Mr Gyenfi said the club was moved to assist the orphanage because the owner is a blind man and saw it as a good initiative which needed support from all and sundry to realize the dream of giving hope to the less privileged.

Mr Laud Ampofo, Charity Committee Member of the Club, said management of UTV Station has secured a new site for the orphanage in the Akuapim South District at Nsawam Otoase new town.

Mr Ampofo said the club had adopted two dormitories for refurbishment as well as complete a toilet facility for the orphanage.

Mr Samuel Kwapong Darko, Owner of the Orphanage, received the items and thanked the Club for the donation and said the orphanage has 40 girls and 20 boys.
