Aburi-Nsawam MP-elect to support the aged

Nsawam, Dec. 15, GNA - Mr Osei Bonsu Amoah, Member of Parliament elect for Aburi-Nsawam in the Akuapem South District, has promised to set aside part of his Common Fund to cater for the health needs of the aged in the area.

Mr Amoah gave the assurance at the weekend when he addressed traders and supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) urging them to vote massively for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the NPP presidential candidate in the upcoming December 28, 2008 run-off. He said he had already provided free mutual health insurance cards to 150 old people as well as poor and needy ones in the constituency. The MP-elect, who is currently a Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sports, also assured the electorate that the NPP would continue to give priority to healthcare delivery to a day old child, and pregnant mothers.

Mr Amoah said Ghanaians must reflect on the lives that were lost under the "Cash-and-Carry" health policy under the National Democratic Congress's administration and added that electorate should not make the mistake to vote them back to power. He said Nana Akufo-Addo's government in addition was ready to assist poor farmers to register with the mutual health insurance scheme in order for them to easily and freely access health care. 15 Dec. 08
