Abura Enyinabrim is a sub community of Abura Aseibu Kwamankese District (A.A.K District) located at exactly three kilometers from Abura Tayido to Anomabo Mampong on the main road. The main economic activity of the community is farming which include rearing of farm animals, growing of food crops and cash crops (Lime and Orange).

The people of Abura Enyinabrim first lived in a place called “Abetsea Kokodo” meaning on Top of a Mountain, but they were disturbed by natural disasters like heavy storm and fires which destroyed most of their houses and rendered them homeless.

In 1956, the then leader told his people to move a little down the mountain to settle to have their peace. As they moved downwards, they found a very big black Ceiba tree which in the local dialect it is known as “Onyinabir”.

The people therefore settled down under the black Ceiba tree and called the place “Onyinabrim”. Currently, the town is called Abura Enyinabrim because in the Abura Dunkwa Kwamankese District in the Central part of Ghana.

The first Odikro of Abura Enyinabrim was Nana Kojo Acquah I and His wife was Maame Adwoa Bosuwaa. The people of Abura Enyinabrim celebrate the Akwambo festival. It is celebrated mostly during Easter between March and April.

The people of Abura Enyinabrim in the Central Region celebrate the festival literally meaning “path-clearing”. The Asafo companies weed footpaths leading to the streams or rivers, farms and other communal places, as well as paths, which lead to shrines.

The following day, the whole community assembles at the ancestral shrines and the Odikro pours libation to the ancestral spirits to thank them for their protection during the previous year and then request for more blessing, abundant rainfall and good harvest for the ensuing year.

At the stream or riverside where some of the sacrifices are offered, fishes come out to enjoy the mashed yams mixed with red oil sprinkled on the water.

With their bodies smeared with clay, the people then parade with twigs and tree branches through the town in groups amidst drumming, dancing and firing of musketry.

The Odikro of Abura Eyinanbrim Nana Amoakwah II, Elders, and the Planning Committee of Abura Eyinanbrim have therefore thrown an open invitation to all citizens of the world and Ghanaians in particular, to join them in the celebration, catch the opportunity to witness beautiful Abura Eyinanbrim Tradition and explore business opportunities.

It is, therefore, an opportunity for Eyinanbrim people to meet at home, hence,
HOME COMING AKWAMBO FESTIVAL 2019.
