After nearly a year and a half of being out of commission, the Abuakwa North Municipal ambulance is set to resume its critical emergency services, thanks to a timely and substantial donation from the Member of Parliament, Nana Kwame Addo Frimpong Ampaw.
The MP, popularly known as "Chief Buffalo," utilised funds from his common fund to acquire a new engine for the vital vehicle, estimated to cost between GH¢50,000 and GH¢60,000.
Akagane Eddie, the Director of the Municipal Ambulance Service, confirmed the prolonged inactivity of the ambulance, stating it had been "out of commission for nearly a year and a half due to an engine fault."
He disclosed that despite numerous appeals to both the regional office and municipal leadership, the necessary funds to repair the vital emergency vehicle had not been secured, leaving residents without a fully operational ambulance for an extended period.
It was against this backdrop that Nana Kwame Addo Frimpong Ampaw stepped in. Demonstrating his commitment to the well-being of his constituents, the MP personally signed a cheque from his allocated common fund, covering the entire cost of the replacement engine.
Expressing heartfelt gratitude, Akagane Eddie lauded the MP's intervention. "We are immensely grateful to Nana Kwame Addo Frimpong Ampaw for this wonderful gesture," he stated. "His intervention means our ambulance can finally get back on the road, providing essential life-saving services to our community. This is a huge relief for everyone in Abuakwa North."
The acquisition of the new engine is expected to significantly bolster the municipality's emergency response capabilities. With the ambulance now fully operational, residents of Abuakwa North can look forward to more efficient and timely medical assistance during critical situations, enhancing overall public health and safety.
This act of remarkable generosity by the Abuakwa North MP underscores his dedication to addressing the immediate needs of his constituents and marks a crucial turning point for emergency healthcare provision in the municipality.
