Abomosu Presby appeals for computers, learning aids

Abomosu (ER), March 10, GNA - The Abomosu Presbyterian Primary 91A'= and =91D' in the newly created Atiwa District, have appealed to the governmen= t and benevolent organisations to assist the schools with computers to help make children computer literate. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at the school, Mr Daniel Acheampong, headteacher, said at present the school has only one computer i= n the laboratory and a few teaching aids. This situation, he said, made it highly difficult for the pupils to understand Information and Communication Technology (ICT) lessons, includin= g the rudiments of computer.

According to him, the pupils were respectful and hardworking while the teachers were principled and devoted. He, therefore, appealed to all those who had the school at heart to donate computers to stock the laboratory and to promote ICT. Mr Acheampong made a passionate appeal to the government to endeavour to increase teachers' responsibility allowance from GH¢ 1.00 to an appreciable amount. At the Abomosu Presbyterian Primary School, the GNA observed that all the classrooms were occupied and a few teachers were present while food served under the School Feeding Programme was ready. However, the Akim Bomso Junior High School, Presbyterian Primary Schoo= l and the Roman Primary School were closed. All the public schools at Asuom were not operating but at Kade the school children used the absence of effective teaching and learning to organise mass sporting activities at the Kade Roman School Park.
