Agona Duakwa (C/R), Jan. 14, GNA - The ASUAABR Youth Association (AY= A) based in Agona Duakwa is to set up a scholarship scheme to cater for brilliant but needy students in the area. The President of the group, Mr Salisu Musa, said this at a day's forum to educate the people on the aims and objectives of the association. The programme, which was under the theme "Empowering the youth through education," was attended by parents and students from both basic and seni= or high schools.

Mr Musa said children who obtained between aggregates six and fifteen in the Basic Certificate Education Examination were qualified to benefit from the scheme.

The District Chief Imam for Agona urged the youth to be serious with their education so that they could attain the heights they aspire to reach. He advised the children to not to indulge themselves in negative lifestyles such as drunkenness, fornication, crime and the disrespect of th= e elderly but rather concentrate on their education so that they could grow up to become responsible adults.

Mr Joe Appiah, a business consultant, appealed to politicians to tell the truth to the people and also desist from giving false promises since that could erode the confidence people have in them.
