AESL staff advised to avoid public ridicule

Koforidua, Dec. 9, GNA- The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Yaw Barimah, has urged the management and staff of the Architectural and Engineering Services Limited(AESL) to be transparent, honest and committed to the vision and mission of the company to avoid public ridicule.

He also cautioned them against playing themselves into areas where there would be conflict of interest.

Mr. Barimah was speaking at a three-day End-of-Year National Management Meeting of the staff of AESL at Koforidua on Thursday. He advised the company to train the workers well so that they could go into the competitive market to look for jobs, not because they are government consultants but because they have the ability to provide services that meet value for money.

Mr Barimah called on the management to use their training school at Weija, Accra, to train not only members of staff but also local contractors to improve upon their capacity and technical skills so that they could execute projects according to specifications. The Managing Director of AESL, Alhaji Mashud Ibn Musah, said since his company operates in all regions, it made it possible for them to undertake projects sited in the remote areas of the country where other consultants find unproductive.

He said his outfit had the capacity to produce layout schemes for the construction of various types of houses to meet the housing needs of the Regional Co-ordinating Councils and District Assemblies. Alhaji Musah said AESL had been providing industrial training to students from the polytechnics, saying this year, it provided training for 165 students throughout the country. He said to ensure effective supervision of their projects, particularly in the regions, the company was planning to establishing Zonal Offices staffed with resident Clerk of Works to supervise projects within the set locality.

Alhaji called on the staff to organize frequent site meetings involving the Assembly members as a way of informing them on the progress of projects under their various jurisdictions and encourage them to be supportive of the AESL projects.
