AESDA to spend 14.5 billion cedis on development projects

Winneba (C/R), Dec. 24, GNA-The Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly is to spend about fourteen and a half billion cedis on 30 development projects planned by the assembly to better the lot of communities in the area.

Projects earmarked under the package include, school blocks, electricity, community libraries, and rehabilitation of feeder roads in the district.

Mr. Solomon Kwashie Abbam-Quaye, District Chief Executive said the assembly is looking forward to organizations like, EU, MCA, UPRP/SIF, CBRDP, and Plan Ghana to extend assistance to them to facilitate the execution of the projects. He, however, charged members to educate their people on the need to honour their tax obligations and also make their environments clean all the time to protect them against diseases. To ensure successful attainment of the goals set under the Millennium Challenge Account projects in the district, assembly members and opinion leaders have been tasked to enlighten their people, particularly those engaged on agricultural projects to plant improved seeds for better yields.

Mr. Samuel Owusu-Agyei, Deputy Minister of Health responsible for health insurance and MP for Effutu, asked members of the assembly to feed the two MPs in the district with ideas and suggestions that would help them in planning strategies to facilitate the development of the district.

Mr. K. Oppey-Abbey, MP for Awutu/Senya, called for co-operation and collaborative efforts from all to accelerate the improvement in the socio-economic lives of the electorate.

Mr. David Ghartey Tagoe, former Director-General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) and chief advisor to Radio Peace, appealed to the assembly for financial and other material support for the running of the station.

Mr. Alex Afenyi Markin, presiding member of the assembly, advised members to cultivate the spirit of unison and love for their electoral areas to be able to make meaningful contributions towards nation building.
