AEED honour students for their contributions to education

Ajumako (C/R), July 23, GNA - The Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Assembly has so far awarded scholarships to 96 teacher trainees in the district.

Mr Kenneth Obempong, District Chief Executive, said this on Thursday when the assembly in conjunction with the District Education Directorate honoured 30 members of Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam Students and Associates (AEESA) for their contribution to the development of education in the district at Ajumako.

The students, who are from the University of Cape Coast, undertook a five-week vacation teaching at basic and second cycle schools in the district free of charge.

Mr Obempong commended the students and expressed the hope that their contribution would help improve the falling standard of education in the district.

Mr Peter Droefenu, District Director of Education, commended the students and appealed to the DCE to maintain the scheme to improve the standard of education in the area. Mr Ernest Ampiah, leader of the group, said they would make the programme an annual one. They were presented with certificates of participation and cash.
