ADRA and Swedru SDA present items to flood victims

Agona Sedru, July 29, GNA - The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Ghana, with the Agona Swedru Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) has presented relief items with an unspecified amount of money to the Swedru and Agona Nyakrom flood victims.

The items include 40 bails of used clothing, boxes of soaps, pieces of wax prints, food stuffs.

Pastor Oteng-Asare, the Agona Swedru East District Pastor, who made the presentation, on behalf of the two organisations, appealed to the real estate developers, financial institutions and private individuals to assist the victims with building materials to enable them to reconstruct their collapsed houses.

He said, currently, one of the difficulties of the victims is where they would lay their heads since they cannot continue to stay with relatives and in temporary camps.

According to Pastor Oteng-Asare, the food items and cloths given to the victims could support them, but they needed some capital to start their trading to restore their lives to normalcy life.

Mr Francis Odoom, Secretary of the Swedru District SDA Church, said the SDA Church would continue to support the victims and called on the Assembly and organizations to also assist the victims.

Nana Kojo Ackom, Tufuhene of Agona Swedru, thanked the donors for the kind gesture and reiterated the call to the government and organizations to go to the aid of the victims because they need more assistance.

He stated that the disaster was devastating and a blow to the traditional area since it affected commercial and agricultural activities, which were the main occupation of the people.
