A 25,000-dollar ICT centre for Okuapeman School inaugurated

Akropong-Akuapem(ER), Feb. 11, GNA - A 25,000-dollar Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre with computers for the visually impaired has been inaugurated at Okuapeman School at Akropong-Akuapem.

The Christian Blair Butterworth ICT Centre, is in honour of Mr Blair Butterworth, a former Peace Corp Volunteer who served as Assistant Headmaster of the school from 1963-1964 and instrumental in the establishment of the centre. It was jointly financed by Mr Blair, some past students and the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the school.

Inaugurating the centre, Mr Blair expressed appreciation to those who contributed towards making the idea conceived in 2007 when he visited the school with his children to become a reality. He said technology was changing the world fast and with the centre, the students could be abreast with society.

Mr Fred Labi, an ICT Consultant and an old student of the school said with the centre, the school now had wireless internet connectivity on its compound.

Osabarima Ansa Sasraku, Mafihene, urged the students to take their ICT education serious to compete for jobs on the international market.
