Four (4) persons have been confirmed dead, while six (6) others are battling varying degrees of injuries after a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus was involved in an accident on the Konongo-Kumasi Highway.

The incident, according to MyNewsGh.com’s Ashanti Regional Correspondent, occurred at about 11:30 am on Thursday, November 29, 2024.

It is gathered that the vehicle, with registration number GE 6461-22, traveling from Accra towards Kumasi with passengers on board, burst a tyre while in motion upon reaching a section of the road at Lady Diana along the Juaso–Konongo highway. In the process, the driver lost control of the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to roll over into a ditch on the offside edge of the road.

Occupants on board the vehicle, including the suspect driver, who has been identified as 52-year-old Okai Forson Kwesi, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Stewards Hospital, Yawkwei, for treatment.

Four of the victims died on arrival at the facility, while six others, whose conditions were critical, had to be referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
