The English-speaking station was unveiled last Thursday, days after the launch of the Akan-speaking section—Onua 95.1—in Kasoa.

Head of the station, Petra Aba Asamoah, speaking at the launch event, said 3FM will provide rich and informative content that will add value to its listeners and make the station stand out in the current competitive media industry.

She remarked: “We are entering a competitive industry; but we will be the difference that the listenership have been waiting for with our delivery of credible, accurate and timely information.

“3FM will operate a community-centred approach and for that matter, most of the station’s contents will be centred to suit that cause, leveraging on technology and modern media trends.”

Ms Asamoah indicated that the station boasts competent and experienced professionals who are committed to team values and that 3FM has come to change the media landscape.

Board chair of Media General Radio, Prof. Victor Gadzekpo, indicated that the decision to roll out the chain of radio stations reiterates his outfit’s quest to transform the country’s airwaves with innovative, unbiased and development-oriented contents.

He said to push the noble dream, Media General Radio will continue to engage the services of youthful, energetic and competent expertise to run the chain of stations being rolled out.

“With the plethora of radio stations, the need has emerged for a new kind of radio; one that meets the need of today’s busy professionals, analyses information and leaves the listener to decide based on unbiased facts presented; highlights community needs and issues and works for solutions and infuses itself with the very community it represents,” he said.

Board chair of the mother-brand, TV3 Network Limited, Kojo Yankah, assured management of the station to count on the support, and emulate the standards that have been set by the television station.

Deputy Communications Minister, Ato Sarpong, charged operators of 3FM to exhibit the high ethical standards and carry out their duties with the highest level of professionalism.

He indicated: “The launch of this radio station is an entrenchment of democracy and governance in the country.”
