3BN Garrison organises Open Day for public

Sunyani, March 9, GNA - Thousands of school children and sections of the general public in the Sunyani municipality thronged the 3BN Garrison in Sunyani when the garrison organized a military open day on Friday to get themselves abreast with the activities and installations of the Liberation barracks.

Led by Major Jacob Yekple, Acting Commander of the garrison the people, including Nana Abraham Kwadwo Kwakye, Deputy Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister and Mr. Francis Boateng Regional Coordinating Director were taken through a photo exhibition, weapon and testing firing, silent and mortar drills as well as a demonstration on attack on enemy camps. Some of the school children also had the opportunity to ride in armoured cars and firing of guns.

Addressing the people after the demonstrations, Major Yekple said the day was set aside to help create and enhanced the existing cordial relationship between the military and civilians in order to dispel any wrong public perception about the military.

He emphasized the need for the general public to regard the military as brothers and sisters and assist each other when necessary to ensure national stability.

On his part, Nana Kwakye thanked the military for the idea of trying to widen the relationship between them and civilians.

He commended personnel of the garrison for their immense contribution towards the prevailing peace in the region and expressed the hope that the relationship between the military and civilians would continue to strengthen.
