31 Year Old Mason Stabbed to Death at Yamfo

The evening of June 12, this year, would remain a black Tueday day for the people of Yamfo in the Brong Ahafo Region, following two deaths.

It was a sad Tuesday for Nana Kwaku Gyamfi, a retired teacher and Madam Joana Afia Boateng Akyeaa because their only son, Martin Kwadwo Frimpong was stabbed to death by two brothers in a fight.

The deceased, a 35-year-old mason, left behind a wife and two children.

Chief Inspector Samuel Amoani of the Yamfo Police Station told Space FM that on that fateful evening, an argument ensued between one of the suspects, Daniel Ansah and the deceased Alim in front of the Nsoatreman Rural Bankat Yamfo.

He said during the argument, Alim accused Ansah and his younger brother Yeboah Kwamena Joshua (2nd suspect) that they once peeped through his window when he (Alim) was sleeping with a girlfriend.

This according to Chief Inspctor Amoani did not go down well with Ansah, so he rushed home to inform the younger brother Yeboah of what Alim has said about the two.

Yeboah grew furious about the news and rushed to the spot where they were arguing and pounced on the deceased, resulting in a fight. In the process, Ansah joined his brother to assault the deceased.

The people around separated them but shortly after they heard a voice shouting for help and when they rushed to the spot, they saw Alim on the ground bleeding from the left ribs. An eye witness, Seidu and others rushed the bleeding Frimpong to the Regional Hospital in Sunyani, but the victim was pronounced dead on arrival.

Seidu told Space FM that to prevent the suspects from escaping, he informed the people who called him on phone that Alim was okay.He said on their return from Sunyani, they went straight to the Yamfo police station to lodge a complaint.

Seidu disclosed that there was one police officer on duty that time, who asked them to wait till the next morning, but he later accompanied them to arrest Ansah.

The father of the deceased, Nana Kwaku Gyamfi, told Space FM that though the suspects are his nephews, he would allow the law to take its course.

The mother, Joana Boateng, who has lost eight of her nine children, could not say a word as she wept uncontrollably.

Chief inspector Amoani said the two suspects, Yeboah and Ansah, have been provisionally charged with murder and abetment of murder respectively, and have accordingly been remanded into prison custody by the Duayaw Nkwanta Circuit Court presided over by Justice Emmanuel Amo Yartey. They are to reappear on June 18, 2007.
