22 communities to benefit from Small-Town Water project

Jachie (Ash), April 5, GNA- Twenty-two (22) communities in the Bosomtwe- Atwima- Kwanwoma District, have been listed to benefit from the Small-Town Water project as part of Government efforts to make potable water easily accessible to the people.

Mr Bright Addai-Mununkum, District Chief Executive, who announced this said Government would take up 90 per cent of the cost, while the beneficiary community and the District Assembly takes up five per cent each.

He was speaking at a fund-raising durbar organised by the chiefs and people of Jachie in aid of projects initiated through self-help. Mr Addai-Mununkum asked the people to complement Government's development efforts through such self-help projects.

The Member of Parliament for the area, Mr Simon Osei-Mensah announced plans to use part of his share of the District Assembly Common Fund to support the construction of a classroom block for the local junior secondary school to replace the wooden structure.

Baffour Kwaku Amoateng II, Jachiehene, commended the Government for releasing 130 million cedis from the HIPC fund to pay for the community's five per cent counterpart fund of 3.8 billion cedis towards the project.

An amount of 42 million cedis was realised at the fundraising ceremony.
