1997 year group of BHOBU to support 20th anniversary project of Alma mater

The 1997 year group of Bishop Herman College will hit the road to Kpando in the Volta Region to reminisce the good old days as part of their 20th Anniversary celebrations.

During their visit on Saturday, January 20, 2018, they are poised to donate 100 customized mono desks worth about GH¢30,000 to the School as their project to climax their 20th anniversary of completion.

As part of the anniversary climax, the year group will also undertake some interactive programmes to complement the main anniversary project.

Bishop Herman College (BIHECO), a Catholic Boys’ Second Cycle institution last year marked its 65th Anniversary. It is known for its excellence in academia, and stands as the best performing School in the Volta Region according WAEC rankings.

The 1997 Year Group, which is the largest ever batch of 332 students, is currently made up prominent Ghanaians holding enviable positions in Ghanaian and foreign Universities as Lecturers; Media , Security Services, Medical field, Business world and Political leadership.

As a Group, they realised the urgent needs of the alma mater and hence raised funds to support as their widow’s mite.

In an interview, Mr. Damian Avevor, an Executive Member of the Year Group, said last year January, a representation of the Group visited the School to assess its needs which included Storage tanks, an incinerator, and Desk furniture, amongst many others.

He said the group also has plans of considering some top up projects for the School depending on the windfall it might record and the specific needs of the School it chance upon.

Mr. Avevor, who is the News Editor of The Catholic Standard, the National Catholic Weekly Newspaper, expressed his appreciation to the Anniversary Project team- Mr. Wellington Amankwah, the Project Director; Mr. Benedict Adzogble, Project Fund Manager, Dr. Samuel Essien-Baidoo, Project PRO; Mr. Daniel Amedjoe, Mr. Elorm Adonu, Mr. Michael Donkor, and others colleagues both home and abroad for their financial contributions and support towards the project.

He also thanked his other mates, Mr. Simon Madjie, Executive Secretary of American Chamber of Commerce; Mr. Roland Walker of Multimedia; Dr. Kenneth Kpogo, Daniel Adehenu, Frank Adase, Amen Nugba, Silas Anku, Raji Adenkule, Alex Abiti and for their financial support and encouragement.

He prayed that others will also come on board to give continuous support to our alma mater.
