12 people crashed to death near Apam

Apam C/R), Jan. 19, GNA - Twelve people comprising eight males and f= our females lost their lives early Wednesday morning in a motor accident at Onyaadze near Apam in the Central Region.

The accident involving a 207 Benz Bus with registration number CR 447 P and a Cargo Truck with registration number GR 7024 X, claimed 10 lives on the spot, nine in the Benz Bus and the driver of the Cargo Truck. The Benz Bus was travelling from Mumford near Apam to Accra, while the Cargo Truck was from the Accra direction.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency at the Apam Catholic Hospital, Police Chief Inspector Benjamin Allotey in-charge of the Apam MTTU said the cargo truck veered from its original direction and crashed into the 207 Benz Bus, adding that he suspected the driver of the bus might have dozed off. Chief Inspector Allotey said the dead had been deposited at the Apam Catholic Hospital Mortuary, while the injured had been sent to the Apam Catholic and Winneba Government Hospitals.

He indicated that one of the injured died at the Apam Catholic Hospital, while another also passed away at the Winneba Government Hospital= .. He said apart from the driver of the Cargo Truck who died, all the dea= d victims were onboard the 207 Benz Bus and said the dead were yet to be identified.
