1.2 billion cedis school complex inaugurated at Akomadan

Kumasi, Sept. 29, GNA- A 1.2 billion cedis school complex built at Akomadan in the Offinso District by the Kuapa Kokoo Limited (KKL), a Licensed Cocoa Buying Company (LBC), has been inaugurated. The project, named after the late Nana Yaw Frimpong Abebrese, founder of the company, was handed to the Methodist Church of Ghana at Akomadan on Sunday.

It has nine classrooms, offices and stores for both primary and Junior Secondary School (JSS), a library, a computer room and a two-flat head teachers' bungalow.

Nana Kwadwo Appiah-Kubi, Chairman of the company, said KKL intended to make the school a model one that would promote modern education to children in the area.

"It is our vision that those who pass through this institution would become great leaders like Nana Frimpong who will change their lives and that of others for the better".

He appealed to the community, the Methodist Church and the district assembly to maintain the project at all times.

Mr Joseph Yaw Oduro, the District Chief Executive, praised the company for investing massively in education and said this was in conformity with government's vision of providing good infrastructure for schools.

He noted that infrastructure is important for quality teaching and learning and said it was for this reason that the government has within its two-and-half years in office, built about 4,000 school blocks nationwide.

Mr Oduro said the assembly was spending about 80 percent of its budget to support education.
