Press release on purported threats on the lives of judges

UNITED CADRES FRONT OF GHANA (UCF-GHANA)

The United Cadres Front of Ghana (UCF-GHANA), have read with shock and utter dismay, quoted radio presentation attributed to two men on a Montie FM programme talk-show dubbed "PANPAMSO", aired on June 29, 2016, by the Ghana Bar Association (GBA).
The GBA quoted verbatim what the men said in the course of the programme, condemning the pronouncements as well as calling on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to effect their arrest, investigate and possibly prosecute them and if found guilty convict them.
We have read the full statement of the GBA. While we see it as welcome, it is rather very informing that the GBA has remained silent over some of these issues that transcend daily particularly on the airwaves across the country. We believe such selective releases would not serve the general good of the peace and stability we all pursue for the sake of Mother Ghana.
Be it as it may, it is disturbing that, most of those who appear on such programmes purport to be speaking for either the National Democratic Congress (NDC) or the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Whichever way they claim to be projecting - we have no problem. But it is when their utterances go a long way to generate hatred for a cross-section of the Ghanaian populace and even go beyond that to threaten lives of groups and individuals; then UCF-GHANA see it as unproductive and therefore very un-acceptable.
The current democratic dispensation ought to urge every Ghanaian to do the best in conducting ourselves with utmost civility which is a major under-pinning of democratic governance. As such we, urge all political parties, irrespective of which party the panelists are speaking for - to come out and condemn them such acts which are untoward.
The unfortunate mention of the 'BLACK SPOT' of Ghana's history by recalling the gruesome murder of the High Court Justices some 35 years ago is VERY-VERY UNFORTUNATE and ought to be condemned in limitless terms. The UCF-GHANA wish to state that never again should we have a replication of that event and, for that matter, nobody should be allowed in the solemn name of DEMOCRACY - to go politically way-ward.
