BlacVolta is building digital infrastructure for Ghana’s creative economy through the Blacvolta lifestyle app that connects event discovery, ticketing, RSVP, e-commerce and fintech in one ecosystem.

The Ghanaian media and technology company is bringing together tools that help people discover culture and help creative businesses generate revenue. Users can explore events, places and services, buy tickets, RSVP and access the integrated BlacVolta Visa lifestyle card.

Speaking about the company’s vision, Founder and Creative Director, Joseph Adjei said the long-term ambition is to become Africa’s number one lifestyle ecosystem. He explained that BlacVolta also wants to strengthen belief in the creative economy as a sector worth building businesses in, investing in and pursuing professionally.

The continental opportunity is substantial. A June 2026 guest article published by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa puts Africa’s creative economy at an estimated $60 billion, with potential to reach $200 billion by 2030, subject to the right policies.

BlacVolta’s approach focuses on the infrastructure needed to turn that potential into everyday commerce. Event organisers need ticketing systems, merchants need access to customers, and audiences need an easier way to discover experiences and pay for them.

Central to this ecosystem is the BlacVolta Visa lifestyle card. Through its partnership with Visa, BlacVolta aims to bring lifestyle benefits into everyday payments across Africa, connecting spending with experiences and value at participating businesses.

According to the company, early user feedback has been enthusiastic, with cardholders enjoying benefits across restaurants, transport, accommodation and other participating lifestyle locations. Users are also using the card for everyday payments, including subscriptions—extending its usefulness beyond events and nightlife.

Head of Partnerships Christabelle Boateng said the approaching December season presents an opportunity to give visitors an easier landing in Ghana. The goal is to help them discover where to go, access events, find accommodation and connect with local businesses, supporting tourism while increasing awareness of Ghana’s creative economy.

The tourism opportunity is significant. According to the Ghana Tourism Authority’s 2025 Tourism Report, Ghana welcomed 1,306,962 international tourists during the year.

BlacVolta aims to serve more of these visitors by making the country’s lifestyle and cultural offerings easier to discover and access.

Beyond the app, the BlacVolta ecosystem includes BV Social, its digital media agency, which provides content, marketing and digital media services to lifestyle, corporate and hospitality businesses across Ghana. Its client portfolio includes Visa, Spotify, Devtraco, MTN, GUBA, AfroFuture and etc.

It also includes the BlacVolta Podcast, which the company describes as Ghana’s only podcast dedicated to the creative economy. Its interviews have featured Bozoma Saint John, Chance the Rapper, Vic Mensa and other influential voices, exploring the ideas, careers and businesses shaping the sector.

Starting in Ghana, with plans to expand into other African cities, BlacVolta is connecting culture, tourism, payments and commerce through one lifestyle ecosystem—building infrastructure that helps the creative economy translate attention into transactions and sustainable revenue.
