Ing. William Abeiku Hayford is a committed member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), an engineer and risk consultant who has consistently placed the unity, strength, and growth of the party above personal interest. He is widely respected within the party for his loyalty, accessibility, and strong connection with the grassroots.

He currently serves as the National Secretary for former NDC Parliamentary Aspirants, where he brought together former aspirants from across the country under one united platform. In a space where post-primary divisions often weaken parties, he has helped maintain peace, respect, and continuous engagement among comrades. His leadership has contributed to strengthening internal unity, and helping ensure that no former NDC parliamentary aspirant broke away to contest as an independent candidate, protecting the party’s vote base and discipline.

At the grassroots level, he is known for one simple reason — he does not disconnect from the base. He stays with the branches, engages constituency executives and maintains close contact with and ordinary members. For him, the branch is not a symbol — it is the real engine of the party.

Many within the party describe him as someone who understands the everyday struggles of the grassroots: the work done at branch level, the sacrifices of executives, and the importance of keeping the base respected, rewarded, and involved. His message has consistently been that the NDC cannot win power without a united and motivated grassroots front.

He is a former parliamentary aspirant for Cape Coast North. His politics has always been centred on building trust at the base and ensuring that every branch feels part of the party’s direction.

To many at the base, he represents a leadership style that values respect for structures, unity of purpose, and teamwork over division.

His guiding principle in leadership is simple and clear: he believes in being Competent, Loyal, Accessible, Strategic, and Selfless (C-L-A-S-S), driven by teamwork and a shared commitment to building a stronger NDC from the ground up.

He is an APSUnian and an alumnus of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he built his foundation in engineering and Risk management. He has since built a strong professional career in the Energy and insurance sectors, serving in senior technical and leadership roles, and contributing to industry and institutional development.

He currently serves as the Head of Engineering Department at Kayplex Engineering Ltd-an oil and gas based in Accra and Guyana, a Senior Engineer at the State Insurance Company, and a Board Member of ALFALED Investment Group. He is also a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE).

Academically, he holds a BSc in Petroleum Engineering (KNUST), an MSc in Enterprise Risk Management (KNUST), an MSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, certification in insurance practices from the Ghana Insurance college and a Postgraduate Diploma in Security Management from Wisconsin University College, Accra.
