The 2026 Ghana-China Business Summit, initially slated for July 20 to July 26 in Accra, has been postponed to November 2026 due to national exigencies, organizers announced on Tuesday in Accra.

In a joint statement, the Ghana-China Business Summit Secretariat, Perfect World Company Limited, and partners said the decision, though difficult, was necessary to ensure full government and other partners' participation and alignment with key national priorities.

"We sincerely apologize and wish to assure all stakeholders that the 2026 Ghana-China Business Summit will proceed in November. We apologize to our distinguished speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, and the entire business community for the unfortunate postponement," the statement added.

Dennis Anderson, Coordinator and Executive Director of Perfect World Company Limited, said the new dates will allow for broader engagement and stronger outcomes.

"The theme for this year is “Transforming Potential into Prosperity: Building the Ghana-China Development Bridge”.

To deliver on that mandate, we need the right timing to bring together government, industry, and finance at the highest level. The November schedule gives us space to deepen programming and secure outcomes that are tangible for Ghanaian businesses and for our Chinese partners," Anderson stated.

The Ghana-China Business Summit was established to convert Ghana’s development priorities into bankable partnerships with leading Chinese state-owned enterprises, private companies, financial institutions, and technology providers.

Organizers said the 2026 edition will focus on accelerating investment in infrastructure, manufacturing, agro-processing, energy, digital economy, mining value addition, and skills transfer.

A series of B2B matchmaking sessions, policy dialogues, and project pitching forums are planned to connect Ghanaian SMEs directly with Chinese firms and financiers.

The platform also aims to facilitate technology transfer and joint ventures that support the government’s industrialization agenda, job creation, and export diversification.

The announcement follows a successful hosting of the 2025 Ghana-China Business Summit, which brought together government officials, captains of industry, and investors from both countries.

That summit yielded several memoranda of understanding and advanced discussions on financing for priority projects.

Organizers said feedback from the 2025 event shaped the 2026 agenda, with more emphasis on deal closure, supply chain integration, and SME participation.

The secretariat said all registered speakers, sponsors, and delegates will have their participation automatically transferred to the November dates. New dates and the full program will be communicated in the coming weeks.

"We understand the inconvenience this may cause to travel plans and corporate schedules," the Secretariat added. "We are working closely with stakeholders and our strategic partners to ensure the November summit delivers greater value."

Perfect World Company Limited, as lead convenor, reaffirmed its commitment to making the summit a practical bridge for trade and investment between Ghana and China.

"The relationship between Ghana and China continues to grow in scope and depth. This summit is about turning that relationship into projects, factories, jobs, and prosperity for our people," Anderson said.
