LynneX Ventures has taken the lead on an urgent appeal for support in the treatment of an 8-year-old battling acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.

Nhyira Afrema Tano is an admirable, intelligent 8-year-old young girl who is courageously battling a type of cancer, labelled acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL).

Nhyira was diagnosed last year in 2024 and has since been receiving treatment at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital’s Pediatric Oncology Unit under the care of Dr. Nedda Ayibisa. Despite ongoing chemotherapy sessions, her condition has worsened, with leukaemia cells spreading to her right eye, causing partial visual loss.

The road ahead is filled with uncertainty with her medical procedures and care team describing Nhyira’s chances of recovery as “fifty-fifty”, placing immense strain on her fragile health and burden on the family. According to Dr. Ayibisa, Nhyira’s best hope for survival now lies in a bone marrow transplant.

The Oncology department is yet to ascertain which hospital outside of Ghana can successfully perform the bone marrow transplant, giving Nhyira another opportunity to live. “This transplant is her chance at life,” Dr. Ayibisa emphasized, urging the public to support Nhyira’s ongoing treatment.

Her mother, Madam Vida Mensah, shared the emotional toll this battle has taken on the family: “We’ve been on a rollercoaster of emotions.

The doctors are doing their best, but we’re deeply worried about the risks and side effects the cancer has shown already, All we want is for our daughter to live a healthy life again.”Meanwhile, Nhyira continues to receive chemotherapy at the Korle Bu Pediatric Oncology department with a significant financial burden causing occasional missed appointments and laboratory testing prior to her scheduled sessions.

According to her mother, madam Vida Mensah, “transportation to get to the hospital is often a challenge, we cannot even find the means for transportation and other expenses that goes with each treatment session”, “it is so difficult, I do not know how we can do this without help."

LynneX Ventures is dedicated to collaborating with the Korle Bu Pediatric oncology department and Nhyira’s care team in sourcing the appropriate surgical unit that can successfully undertake the bone marrow surgical procedure, meanwhile, her current chemotherapy plan of care is ongoing and sessions need to be completed, however, the family is currently challenged with financial resources.

The hospital has assured the family that every available medical option is being pursued, but the challenge remains daunting.

LynneX Ventures, through its Save the Children Campaign, is rallying public support to give Nhyira a second chance at life.The organization is calling on individuals, institutions, and philanthropists to contribute towards Nhyira’s needed treatment.

Donations and support can be primarily channelled through LynneX Ventures as the primary coordinator as well as the Korle Bu Pediatric Oncology Unit, under the guidance of Dr Ayibisa. As the campaign unfolds, the message remains clear:
