The Government Hospital Bogoso, in collaboration with Firm Health Ghana Foundation has made a community entry into Yareyeya ahead of the 2025 World Kidney Day celebration. The initiative aims to raise awareness about kidney health and provide free health screenings for residents.
The team, led by the Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Joseph Darko, received a warm welcome from the chief of Yareyeya, Nana Kojo Nkansah, elders and members of the community.
The chief who was happy about happy about health screening exercise assured the team of the community’s full support and encouraged residents to take advantage of the health screening, emphasizing the importance of early detection in preventing kidney diseases.
As a sign of their commitment, the medical team presented t-shirts, drinks, and other items to the community, symbolizing their preparedness for the event. They also toured the Yareyeya School, where the screening exercise is scheduled to take place on March 13, 2025.
The event will feature onsite blood urea and creatinine tests, blood glucose tests, and blood pressure checks, all aimed at early detection and prevention of kidney-related diseases.
The exercise would not be beneficial residents of Yareyeya, but adjourning communities like Suwinso, Awudu Nkwanta, Gordon, and Peter Nkwanta would all benefit from this initiative.
The World Kidney Day celebration in Yareyeya is supported by various sponsors, including Nephro Ghana, Tarkwa Community Hospital, Smart Innovations Ghana Limited, and Samperp Catering Services with GhanaWeb and KSD media as the media partners.
