Zeepay Ghana Ltd nominated for Demo Africa 2015

Zeepay Ghana (www.myzeepay.com), a Mobile Financial Services start up with cutting edge technology has today announced its selection into Demo Africa 2015.

After a rigorous and competitive selection process of which about 600 competitors participated.

Our objective is to operate as an aggregator in the offering of Mobile Financial Services (MFS) to financially excluded persons in Ghana and the people of Ghana at large.

As an Aggregator we accept and process multiple payment instruments such as Mobile Wallets, and Cards at point of sale.

Zeepay also offers Domestic and International remittances at Point of Sale and on Smart Phones.

In the long term our objective is to be a one stop shop to Services such as Aid payments, Transfers, Utility Payments, and other related transactions including prepaid electricity top up. With over 5million Mobile Wallet customers in the market, we believe our service offering is coming to market at the opportune time and are very excited.

The success of Zeepay is attributed to its backbone which runs on open source and Java technology.

Our superiority in service is yet to be rivalled. We bring to the market innovative value added services like near field communications for speed of transactions “Tap & pay”, electronic vending of vouchers and tokens – Utilities, Subscriptions etc., mobile top up vouchers for all networks, remittances at point of sale, domestic transfers, direct cash withdrawal and deposit and payments at point of sale.

We would also be the first to offer direct payment into 16 major banks when we open our doors.

Anthony K. Appiah, Executive Director and co-founder said;

“As an aggregator platform, we add value to the host of payment platforms out there and MFS providers by providing an open loop platform that supports and accepts all other pool of instruments.

Such a service is long overdue and means that with an extended channel of over 500 merchants/partners consumers on Mobile Wallet for example could withdraw funds at point of sale, deposit funds on their wallet or bank accounts all at point of sale and the farmer at farm gate can perform offline transactions during the sale of Commodities”.

Araba Yawson, Sales Manager Zeepay said “Indeed, such a platform is long overdue, in that for the first time irrespective of what payment instrument consumer possess they could transact wherever there is a point of sale or via their Smart Phone.

Meaning customers with mobile wallets can receive and send cash from a Zeepay merchant without worry of not being on that network or platform. This platform is also mobile agnostics and first of kind in Ghana.

My excitement is that for us at Zeepay and our Bank partners for the first time our customers will have mobile wallets, and be able to pay in cash or withdraw cash outside our branch network by visiting a Zeepay merchant. That same customer has the option of using Zeepay’s NFC “Beep & Go” services irrespective of their phones being USSD or Smart phone”.

he 30 finalists have gone through two rigorous screening processes with the final vetting and adjudication done by a pan-African panel of judges comprised of entrepreneurs, VCs and academia.
