Young African Women Congress 2020 postponed

The event has been postponed to December The event has been postponed to December

The management of ExLA Group and the YAWC Team would like to notify all members of the YAWC fraternity and potential participants as well as the general public of the postponement of the 5th Young African Women Congress (YAWC) which was scheduled to take place from 26th to 30th July 2020 in Accra, Ghana under the theme, “Africa: the Empowerment We Want!”.

This decision has been reached due to the current ongoing health situation across the world in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic. As it stands now, all borders within the continent, connecting countries have been closed and all flights are grounded. There is still a plethora of uncertainties surrounding what decisions governments will take next.

Consequently, the Young African Women Congress has been rescheduled for December 2020; the exact date which will be communicated later.

The Young African Women Congress (YAWC) 2020 is still open to young women of African descent in Africa and the diaspora between the ages of 18 and 45. Congress will feature astute women leaders who would lead discussions on salient issues confronting women in general through a keynote, panel discussions, group brainstorming sessions, and project presentations by delegates among others. There will also be a full day’s trip to a tourist destination within the host country for an intensely unique experience of the congress.

Meanwhile, ExLA Group through its gender unit remains committed to championing the course of women through YAWC as long as it promotes national and continental development. We still look forward to engaging more women through the YAWC Network which has become one of the most powerful movements across the continent. Plans are far advanced to open up the YAWC Network to a wider range of women to ensure that no young woman is left behind.

ExLA Group and the YAWC team, therefore, assure all our stakeholders that the objectives and quality of our initial plans and targets for the congress will be pursued. We will work together to module the kind of empowerment we want to shape the Africa we want.
