Silver Hair Salon and Spa takes Breast Cancer Awareness campaign to Nsawam Camp Prison

Silver Hair Saloon and Spa, has successfully held its Breast Cancer Awareness and Screening Event at the Nsawam Camp Prison, reaffirming their shared commitment to community health and well-being.

The event, which took place on Friday, 24th October 2025, brought together Female staff of Ghana Prisons Service, Prison inmates for an insightful health talk and free medical screening led by a team of experienced health professionals.

Prison inmates received professional medical consultations, breast examinations, and guidance on preventive care and early detection.

The atmosphere was one of learning and care as medical professionals provided practical advice on breast health, self-examination, and the importance of regular screenings.

The initiative formed part of the Silver Hair Saloon and Spa program, the saloon broader corporate social responsibility agenda focusing on health, education, and community development.

Reflecting on the success of the event,

The representative of the Silver Hair Foundation, Selly Gally Fiawo, also took the opportunity to encourage women to undergo regular breast screening for early detection of breast cancer.

She stated that the medical equipment , Water Packs and Toiletries donated would strengthen the infirmary’s capacity to deliver effective healthcare services to inmates.

Fiawo further called on the public to support and encourage prisoners rather than stigmatize them, emphasizing that everyone is a potential prisoner.

Echoing her remarks, The Deputy Director of Prisons at the Nsawam Camp Prison, Joseph Vuu, has appealed to the public to extend a hand of support to individuals currently serving time in prison.

According to him, not everyone behind bars is a criminal or has deliberately committed an offense. He noted that anyone could find themselves in prison due to issues such as errors in the justice system, road accidents, manslaughter cases, or even momentary lapses in judgment.

Following the success of the Breast Cancer Awareness and Screening Event, Silver Hair Saloon and Spa continues to set a benchmark for corporate social responsibility in Ghana’s hospitality industry.

In 2022, The Chief Executive Officer of Silver Haircut, Eric Frimpong with some of the staff and officials at Silver Haircut & Silver Hair commissioned a dedicated state-of-the-art barbershop to the Senior Correctional Centre, formerly known as Borstal Institute.
