The Ghanaian diaspora across the United Kingdom and Ireland is celebrating a
significant milestone as Her Excellency Ambassador Vicky Newton, traditionally known as Nana Ekua Konuaba, has been appointed as a United Nations Peace Ambassador in the UK by the Word of Life Ministries International (WOMLI).
WOMLI is the first and only full Gospel Organization to be accredited by the United Nations Economic and Social Council based in New York.
The honour recognises her years of dedicated service in community development,
advocacy, empowerment, and peace-building, which she has championed through her
work as an entrepreneur, property management consultant, media host, traditional
leader, and philanthropist.
Ambassador Newton has long been regarded as a leading voice within the Ghanaian
and African diaspora. Through her presence on radio, television, and various public platforms, she has consistently highlighted issues affecting communities, including inequality, social injustice, youth support, and the need for unity.
Her appointment reflects a lifetime commitment to service and cultural leadership, rooted deeply in her role as a traditional queen mother, where she has worked tirelessly to promote dignity, development, and peace.
This recognition also reflects the growing visibility and impact of African women in international leadership. Ambassador Newton’s journey continues to inspire many, particularly young people, proving that determination and purpose can create pathways to global influence.
In acknowledging the appointment, she expressed deep gratitude and reaffirmed her mission to uplift humanity, stating that the honour represents the collective strength and resilience of the communities she serves. She noted her commitment to advocating for peace, supporting the vulnerable, and helping build a world in which every individual is valued.
Her new role is expected to amplify her ongoing work with organisations and partners dedicated to social justice, mental health support, empowerment initiatives, and community cohesion.
It marks a proud moment not only for Ghana but for the entire diaspora, as Ambassador Vicky Newton continues her impactful journey on a global stage.
Her story, marked by authenticity, devotion, and leadership, enters an inspiring new chapter, one that many will watch with admiration across the UK, Ghana, and beyond.
Ambassador Vicky Newton is currently the BAME officer for Croydon East Labour
