Street2Champions, a Non-governmental organization with focus on unearthing boxing talents from deprived communities and making them world champions paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Youth & Sports, Honourable Mustapha Ussif for his support and advice towards the development of boxing as a world-class sport.

The Minister received the Governing Council members at his office. In his submission, he disclosed, “I am a staunch lover of boxing and so I am more than excited to hear and know that a former boxing champion and other parties like ACE Power Promotions and Origin8 Limited has taken it upon themselves to bring back our boxing fraternity onto the world map again. I share a similar dream of establishing fight academies to unearth more talent and believe that the northern parts of Ghana are an untapped reservoir of boxing talents.

"Beyond the Street2Champions project, I believe we can establish more boxing academies in the Northern parts of Ghana such as Bolgatanga, Wa, and other localities. I have personally been engaging several communities and offering opportunities in boxing for individuals who are passionate about it.”

Honourable Ussif further went on to remark, "My primary objective is to facilitate the resurgence of Ghanaian boxing to its former glory, akin to the days of Azumah Nelson and the inspirational drive he instilled in many of us."

He further conveyed that the Ministry is willing to extend its support to the Street2Champions initiative in every possible manner, including the invitation of corporate entities to partake and contribute to this program.

Joseph Agbeko also implored Hon. Ussif and his Ministry to create interventions in the sport to resurge boxing in Ghana. “I have been a product of boxing, but in recent years, the development of the sport has been hampered by some actions of individuals which is threatening the growth and retaining the interests of Ghanaians. I believe this project, alongside other similar interventions as this, can go a long way.”
