The Mercy Social Center has received food items and stationery worth Ghc10,000 from partners; Happy 98.9 FM and Lakeside Marina Park.

Items donated to the center include; bags of rice, boxes of oil, packs of noodles, stationary, packs of drinks, water, sugar, and other food items.

This forms part of the annual support provided to the Mercy Social Center by the two brands.

Each year, Happy FM and Lakeside Marina Park organize the Family Fun Run and Walk to celebrate Ghana’s Independence Day, promote unity and healthy living amongst families, and most importantly generate funds to support the Mercy Social Center, an orphanage in the Ashaley Botwe enclave.

Director of Lakeside Estates, Salah Kalmoni during the presentation of items to the Mercy Social Center reiterated the commitment of Happy 98.9 FM and Lakeside Marina Park to support the center.

“We have supported the Mercy Social Center for over a decade and we will keep doing it. The center is dear to our hearts and we will keep supporting them in any small way we can. This year, we raised Ghc3,000 from the proceeds of the event and the Kalmoni Foundation and Lakeside Estates also donated an amount of Ghc2,500 each to support this worthy cause. We were also pleased to have had Run Ghana also top up the amount with Ghc 2,000. Just as we’ve achieved this noteworthy feat, we call upon other corporate bodies to also support the Mercy Social Center in any way they can.”

Programmes Manager of Happy 98.9 FM, Elwoode Mantey thanked participants, sponsors, and partners of the Family Fun Run for making the outreach to the Mercy Social Center a reality. He urged them to keep supporting the center and encouraged them to partake in future runs and events organized by the two brands.

“We have also not forgotten our promise to provide Ghc5,000 worth of airtime to the fastest school team. We are in talks with the winning school and they will soon enjoy their prize package,” he added.

Receiving the items on behalf of the center Abdul Salem, Director of the Mercy Social Center, recounted the numerous benefits and privileges the center has enjoyed from Happy 98.9 FM and Lakeside Marina Park. To him, the relationship between the center and the brands is what has kept them going during their hardest moments. He expressed hope that the brands will continue to support the center.

“This is a relationship worth maintaining and we appreciate everything Happy 98.9 FM and Lakeside Marina Park have been doing for us over the years. We have been anticipating this year’s donations and we are glad to have finally received them.
