Justice Mordzifa was the hero on Saturday after romping to victory at the 2023 MTN Invitational golf tournament which teed off to a resounding success at the Celebrity Golf Club in Sakumono, near Tema.

The annual competition staged by MTN to provide a platform for networking by some of Ghana’s biggest business tycoons and their prized customers via golf, was partnered on this occasion by Infinix and Tecno whose phones were part of the prize package for deserved winners.

Playing off handicap 12, Mordzifa totalled 37 points to beat a tightly contested men’s Group A division by a mere one point after edging runner-up Jack Yang Lin who amassed 36 points playing off handicap 11 whilst Francis Amuzu finished 3rd also just a point behind on 35 playing off handicap 9.

“I would like to use this opportunity to, first of all, appreciate you for honouring our invitation and I believe we have had a good time on the course playing and exercising our bodies and minds while enjoying all the benefits that comes with playing golf,” said MTN Acting Chief Enterprise Business Executive, Daniel Asare in his closing remarks.

“I congratulate all the winners of today’s tournament for their demonstration of resilience and tenacity. It’s been an enjoyable session and we hope to see more of such exciting interactions going forward,” Mr. Asare added.

There was no such close contest in men’s Group B however as handicap 26 golfer, Hai Yu Yu took first place on 42 points, four clear of Benigno Mimis who played off handicap 17 with 3rd placed Abdul Aziz Amankwah a further 3 points back on 35 off handicap 20.

Auxiliary prizes went to Solomon Allotey for the longest drive and Dr. Amoako Mensah for closest to the pin for men whilst ladies’ runner-up, Mercy Werner made it a treble of successes by also grabbing both longest drive and closest to the pin for women.

As usual, all winners went home with respective trophies and MTN souvenirs as the sponsors once again brought their business to their cherished clientelle on the sporting field.

“Once again, thank you all for honouring our invitation to the MTN Invitational golf tournament. Your presence, support and passion for this game continues to make this tournament exciting and worth looking forward to,” noted Mr. Daniel Asare.
