Fido, a leading financial services provider dedicated to empowering the underbanked and SMEs, has donated seventy thousand Ghana Cedis worth of building materials to support the reconstruction of the Kantamanto Market, which was destroyed by the recent devastating fire.
A devastating blaze swept through Kantamanto Market in Accra’s Central Business District, leaving hundreds of traders displaced and destroying much of the marketplace.
In response, Fido is stepping forward with this donation of essential building materials to assist with the rebuilding of the market and support the hundreds of business owners affected by the fires.
Speaking ahead of the donation ceremony, Cynthia Owusu, Head of Staff at Fido, expressed Fido’s commitment to the community.
At Fido, empowering local communities goes beyond financial services. As a company dedicated to supporting the growth of small businesses, we understand how vital they are to the nation’s economic progress. Kantamanto Market is the backbone of livelihoods for countless families, and we cannot stand by without providing tangible support. We hope our donation will expedite rebuilding and help traders resume operations soon.
A delegation from Fido visited Kantamanto Market to present their donation with refreshments and officially meet with market representatives.
Fido encourages other corporate entities, nonprofit organizations, and individuals to support Kantamanto Market traders.
“We urge all stakeholders—private sector players, government agencies, and the public—to unite to rebuild Kantamanto Market. We can restore this crucial business hub through collaborative efforts,” Sebastian Quansah, Managing Director, Fido Ghana, added.
