Anijie Global Gender and Climate Conference 2022

Since 1995, world leaders have met every year for the United Nations Climate Change Conference, better known as COP. At the conference, they work to find global solutions to tackle climate change and its consequences.

Leading international experts today provided perspectives on climate change from 2021 till date at COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. The ability of humanity to adapt to the unavoidable effects of climate change, such as increasingly severe and frequent storms and floods, was a prominent topic of discussion.



Simon Stiell, the executive director of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, spoke at the event's launch and stated, "Science gives us the tools and information as to how we need to confront it. It also provides proof and statistics on the implications of climate change.

We are now unmistakably in the period of implementation, which means taking action, as the Egyptian COP27 Presidency has made very plain. This is why Anijie Global Foundation calls on all who are passionate citizens about Climate Action, Gender Equality, and those aged between 18 to 35 with a resolve to make an impact and solve global priorities to come together and take action now as the youth of today.

Anijie Global Gender and Climate conference 2022 beckons the youth to join the global voice of change alongside Government Representatives, Policymakers, NGOs, Youth Activists, Private Entities, and Climate & Gender Equality Fora stakeholders to dialogue and address the theme: Achieving Climate Goals through Gender and Social Equity: The Role of Youth in Ghana and implementing Sustainable Development Goals.

This conference scheduled to take place on the 26th of November 2022 at Ghana Innovation Hub aims to unite 50 delegates with the goal to translate the relationship between gender equality and the role of the youth in achieving climate goals and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on Goals 4, 5 & 13; Quality Education, Gender Equality and Climate Action.



It further aims to draw the youth in through a panel discussion on the disparity of gender in achieving climate change and coming up with solutions and actions to implement as a youth to support climate action in Ghana. At COP 27, only 7 of the 110 world leaders are female, despite the fact that women are disproportionately impacted by climate change.

The Global Goals state that "climate justice cannot exist without gender justice." Bogolo Kenewendo, the Africa Director & Special Advisor of High-Level Champions for Climate Action, argues that the time is now for young people in Africa to get active in climate action. This is why we are urging everyone to get involved and help make a difference.
