The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH through the Joint Action on Jobs, Migration and Development, in partnership with the European Union (EU), the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and the Government of Ghana, has successfully graduated 500 beneficiaries from the Short-Term Skills training program at a cost about 400,000 euros.

This initiative equips trainees with essential skills and resources to embark on their entrepreneurial journeys.

The intensive three-month training program, designed to equip individuals with practical skills for self-employment, was conducted in multiple locations: Accra (150 beneficiaries), Ahafo (50 beneficiaries), Ashanti (150 beneficiaries), Bono (100 beneficiaries), and finally today in Bono East (50 beneficiaries).

Each graduate received a certificate of completion along with an equipment starter pack tailored to their respective trades, including hairdressing, barbering, electrical works, fashion design, and more.

These starter packs will enable the beneficiaries to establish their own businesses, fostering economic independence and contributing to local development.

"This program embodies our commitment to providing sustainable livelihoods and promoting entrepreneurship. By equipping trainees with the tools they need, we are fostering a culture of self-reliance and innovation," said Andreas Berding, Head of Programme.

The project highlights the impact of skills training in promoting self-reliance and economic development. Beneficiaries expressed their appreciation for the initiative, emphasizing how the training has improved their ability to earn a stable income.

"This training has helped upgrade my skills in sewing for ladies. I now have the confidence and tools to start my own business," said Emmanuel Aryee, a graduate specializing in Fashion.

Through this initiative, the EU, GIZ, and its partners continue to support Ghanaian job seekers and returnees by providing skills, resources, and infrastructure improvements, reinforcing their commitment to job creation and sustainable economic growth.

The Jobs, Migration and Development (JMD) project
