Gomoa West NPP executives protest against infiltrators

Apam, Aug 31, GNA - The Gomoa West Constituency Executive of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed concern about people parading themselves in the area as officials of the party and holding unauthorised meetings with members.

Speaking at a news conference at Apam on Tuesday, Mr Armstrong Essaah, Constituency Secretary, said people in Gomoa West who do not have the constitutional mandate were holding meetings with polling station executives without authority.

Mr Essaah stated that certain individuals had infiltrated into the constituency to pursue their personal agenda under the pretext of having connections with big men in the party.

Addressing the conference, which was attended by Mr Joe Hackman, MP for the area, Mr Ben Afful, Constituency Chairman and the rest of the Executives Mr Esaah mentioned Mr Joe Donkoh, Former NDC Constituency Chairman, Nana Boateng an Independent Candidate in the 2004 elections, Ms Garbrah Baby, of Cape Coast and Madam Gyanfuah as some of the personalities involved.

He urged party members to challenge such people to produce evidence of their membership in the constituency, adding that, they were parading as members helping to reorganise the constituency. " We condemn in no uncertain terms the desperate attempt by Mr Joe Donkoh to constitute himself as an unofficial spokesperson, organizer, and chairman of meetings," he stated.

Mr Essaah noted that the party's constitution mandated only the Constituency Chairman and his executives to plan, organise and convene meetings.

The Secretary stated that the NPP was not a lawlessness party where individuals arrogated titles to themselves titles that have constitutionally been assigned to others.

Mr Essaah pointed out that the self-styled constituency executives were going about buying, processing, signing and acquiring party membership cards for unsuspecting polling station executives. He stated that all party cards processed and acquired without the knowledge and official signature would not be recognised. The Secretary assured polling station executives that they would do everything possible not to dismantle the team that achieved victory for the party in the 2004 and 2008 elections.
