The Patriot for Peace and Development has pooh-poohed the National Democratic Congress, (NDC), party weekend press conference held at the bank of River- Pra in the Eastern Region, describing it as irresponsible which lacks merit.

According to a press statement issued in Accra, “the press conference betrays the intelligence of the organizers.”

Richard Danso, the Convener of the group who signed the press statement explained that the drought started around November last year which caused high water turbidity and has nothing to do with the activities of illegal miners in the country.

“Historically, this is a normal routine that during this period our water bodies are under stress and therefore result in high turbidity,” it said.

“Normally, around this time before the rains start to fall, the Ghana Water company spends huge sums of money to treat the water bodies from high to low turbidity, I am struggling to get the locus of their press conference, more especially the issues that they have raised which to me are baseless and lacks merit” it said.

“We know how desperate they are to persuade the electorates to vote for them during this general elections, but this kind of propaganda would end nowhere”, the statement said.

”They could have used the opportunity to advise the government on alternate water sources, like construction of boreholes at strategic locations during this drought period, because definitely the dams would dry out, but wasted it on fruitless propaganda press conference.

“Let’s have professional discourse and look at realities and not propaganda this time round”, it said.

The NDC held a press conference over the weekend to at the River Pra in the Eastern Region on government’s failure to deal with the galamsey menace.
