The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ho West in the Volta region, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah has described the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) as "corrupt and useless".

Following the government's recent committee established to investigate the cause of the cedi depreciation, some persons have questioned the rationale behind the move.

Mr. Bedzrah believes it is a clear waste of time and a mere indication that government lacks competence to manage the economy.

" Ghanaians have seen that the NPP is the most useless government Ghana has ever had, not only corrupt but useless, they don't have any clue. How can you now form a committee to be chasing the dollar?, it means you don't have any clue how to run this government" he said.

Speaking at a press soiree in the Volta Regional capital, Ho on Saturday, 18 January, the MP said, the NPP deceived Ghana's populace and took power but failed to deliver effectively.

" they just came, deceived Ghanaians and took over the reign of the affairs of this country and today they are still struggling with just management of the economy"

The MP for Ho Central Constituency and Member of Parliament's Finance committee, Benjamin Komla Kpodo, in his statement at the soiree indicated that, the cedi under the NDC government was better than under this current administration.

He said before the NDC left power, the cedi was "Ghc3,92 pesewas to $1, today it is Ghc5.74 pesewas, now when you add up this figures or subtract you paid Ghc1,82 pesewas, so from that day that the government took over to today, you need to add Ghc1,82 pesewas in order to get $1"

He added that, the value of the cedi has depreciated to forty-six percent in value saying " Bawumia, I heard the other day saying that we (NDC Administration) were losing the value of the cedi of about twelve percent year on year and that they ( NPP administration) are doing it eight percent, I am telling you that we have lost forty-six percent of the value of the cedi since they (NPP) to power" he indicated.

The event organised at the forecourt of Volta Press Centre saw other party activists and executives including, MP for Adaklu, Kwame Agbodza, MP for North Tongu, Sammuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Regional Chairman of the party, dine and socialize media practitioners in the region.
