Central Region NPP Dismisses Resolution

The Central Regional Executive of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dismissed the resolution presented to it by poling station executives from the Cape Coast Constituency seeking to remove the Cape Coast Constituency Executives from office.

Disclosing this to newsmen, the Regional Secretary, Mr Albert Essuman said "the Regional Executive Committee cannot support such a baseless resolution of vote of no confidence in the Cape Coast Constituency Executive." Mr Essuman said the action of the polling station executives in passing the vote of no confidence was in clear breach of the constitution of the NPP.

"Their action was at variance with the NPP constitution as it was not backed by any of the provisions of the party's constitution," he said. The Regional Secretary said the elected executive headed by Mr. L.E.S. Sarbah is still in office and stated that "it is the plea of the regional secretariat that party members exercise restraint as the party will soon go to congress to elect party executives at all levels of the party structure."

It will be recalled that some Cape Coast constituency polling station executives about a fortnight ago announced that they would no more work with the constituency executives for acts which were clearly in blatant disregard for the interest of the party. They therefore decided to pass a vote of no confidence in nine out of the ten constituency executive and in their place set up an interim executive to be headed by Mr. L.E.S. Sarbah.
