Few days after President Akufo-Addo shot down accusations of deliberately clearing corrupt appointees in his government, a former deputy Ashanti regional minister in the erstwhile Mahama government, Joseph Yammin has nicked named him a ‘fleet forwarder’.

On PureMorningDrive on Wednesday, September 11, 2018, Yammin told show host, Kwame Adinkrah that

“I must be fair to the president in all respect. He is not a clearing agent. If anyone ever tag him with that position, that person isn’t been fair to him at all. Kwame the president is a fleet forwarder.”

Explaining reasons for that tag, Joseph Yammin said, the president goes through documents presented to him, check facts and figures and makes it easier for the supposed clearing agent (Government anti-graft institutions) to clear, ‘that’s his job – to make things easier for his appointees to be cleared’ He sarcastically added .

The Nana Addo administration has come under heavy criticisms in the past few months for many corruption allegations mostly emanating from state institutions involving his appointees.

Though most of the allegations of corruption were referred to constitutional bodies for investigations like committees and state anti-graft institutions, all the investigated persons were cleared of any wrongdoing.

however, the president said he is not a ‘clearing agent’.
