Patriotic Youth Alliance, a pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) group has sent a stern warning to the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako to recuse himself from impending parliamentary primaries since he appears to be tainted and could compromise the entire process

The NPP has officially opened the window for prospective parliamentary candidates to pick nomination forms at the constituency offices of the party to contest in the September parliamentary primaries but the group suspects the involvement of the Regional Chairman will defeat the fair play in the whole process.

“We admire him and respect him, but we want him to recuse himself from the people”, Mr. Thomas Boakye, member of the group appealed on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM’s morning show monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

According to group, it has picked intelligence that Chairman Antwi Boasiako, popularly called Wontumi plans to impose some candidates on the constituents by preventing other prospective and legible candidates from contesting those sitting Members of Parliament (MPs)

“Our research is showing the chairman we respect so much wants to protect some incumbent MPs and impose some new faces on others. But we want to tell him that it will have dire consequences on us as a political party in 2020”, Mr. Thomas Boakye told host Kofi Asante Ennin.

The NPP’s National Director of Research and Elections, Mr Evans Nimako, said on Saturday, 20th July 2019 revealed that picking of nomination forms is expected to end on 3rd August 2019.

He said interested individuals are supposed to pay GH¢2,000 in the name of the party at the bank and submit the banker’s draft before the acquisition of the forms. The aspirants are also supposed to present a banker’s draft of GH¢20, 000 when filing their nomination before 3 August 2019.

National officers of the party he stressed have been assigned to all the regions in the country to facilitate the conduct of the parliamentary elections but explained that a constituency parliamentary election committee has been tasked with the sale of the forms across the 106 constituencies taking part in the polls.
